Radioactivity measures how many atomic nuclei decay per second. The SI unit, the becquerel (Bq), is one decay per second. The older curie is exactly 3.7 × 10¹⁰ Bq (37 GBq), originally based on the activity of one gram of radium-226. The rutherford is one million becquerels. Nuclear medicine doses are often quoted in millicuries in the US and megabecquerels elsewhere, so this converter helps translate between them: 10 mCi is 370 MBq. Note that activity is different from radiation dose, which is measured in sieverts or grays.
