Fuel economy is measured two opposite ways. Miles per gallon and km per litre measure distance per fuel, so higher is better. Litres per 100 km measures fuel per distance, so lower is better. Converting between them is an inverse calculation: L/100 km = 235.215 ÷ US MPG, not a simple multiplication. US and UK MPG also differ because the gallons differ. 30 US MPG is about 36 UK MPG and 7.84 L/100 km.
