Electric current is the flow of charge, measured in amperes. Electronics usually works in milliamperes (1 mA = 0.001 A) or microamperes (1 µA = 0.000001 A), while power systems may use kiloamperes. Battery capacity in mAh simply multiplies current by time: a 5,000 mAh phone battery can in theory supply 500 mA for 10 hours. This converter switches between these prefixes without miscounting zeros. It is useful for reading charger outputs (a 2 A charger is 2,000 mA), sizing resistors for LEDs (often 20 mA) or checking a device's standby draw in µA.
