Capacitance Converter — Free Online

One farad is a very large capacitance, so real components are labelled in microfarads, nanofarads and picofarads. Each step is a factor of 1,000: 1 µF = 1,000 nF = 1,000,000 pF. Ceramic capacitors use a three-digit code where the first two digits are the value and the third is the number of zeros in picofarads, so 104 means 100,000 pF, which is 100 nF or 0.1 µF. This converter helps when a schematic lists 0.1 µF but your parts bin is labelled in nF, or when substituting components between suppliers.
