Margin and markup are often confused. Gross margin is profit divided by selling price; markup is profit divided by cost. If an item costs ₹100 and sells for ₹150, profit is ₹50, markup is 50%, but margin is only 33.3%. Pricing with the wrong one can quietly wipe out profit. This calculator returns gross margin and markup percentages from the cost and selling price you enter. It does not account for tax, shipping, platform fees, overhead or returns, so include those costs separately before treating the result as net profitability. It is useful for retailers, resellers, ecommerce sellers and freelancers reviewing a price.
